The app works on all iOS 26+ devices, but AI summaries and categorization are only available on Apple Intelligence-capable devices.

No! PrivaNota requires no account, sign-up, or login. Simply download the app and start recording. All your data stays on your device, and we never see or store any of your information.

Yes, absolutely. All voice processing, transcription, and AI analysis happens entirely on your device using Apple's on-device models. Your voice recordings and transcripts never leave your iPhone or iPad. We have no servers, no cloud infrastructure, and no way to access your data.

Yes! PrivaNota is designed to work completely offline. All transcription and AI features run locally on your device. You don't need an internet connection to record, transcribe, or organize your notes. The only time you need internet is to download the app initially.

With a Pro subscription, you can export encrypted backups of all your notes and summaries. PrivaNota creates a .privanota file that's encrypted using industry-standard AES-256 encryption. Only the PrivaNota app can decrypt and open these files. You control where to store the backup file—on your device, in your own iCloud, or any external storage you choose.

No, PrivaNota does not save audio files. The app uses your voice recording temporarily for speech-to-text conversion and then immediately discards the audio. Only the transcribed text and AI-generated summaries are saved. This approach maximizes privacy and minimizes storage usage while still providing you with accurate transcriptions.

PrivaNota supports many languages including English (with various accents like Irish, American, British), Spanish, Portuguese, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Korean, Japanese, and more. The app leverages Apple's on-device speech recognition for comprehensive language support.

It also generates concise summaries, extracts action items, and identifies key decisions—all processed locally on your device without any internet connection. Note that AI features are only available on Apple Intelligence-capable devices.

PrivaNota gives you a set number of free AI summaries to use as you see fit—no time limits. These free summaries are tied to your Apple ID and sync across devices (you can't double them by installing on multiple devices or reinstalling). Summaries are only deducted when successfully generated on Apple Intelligence-capable devices with notes of sufficient length. After using your free summaries, a Pro subscription unlocks unlimited AI summaries plus additional export features. Pricing is handled through the App Store and varies by region.

Yes! With a Pro subscription, you can import and export encrypted .privanota backup files on any iPhone or iPad with PrivaNota installed. Simply transfer the backup file to your new device (via AirDrop, iCloud Drive, or any method you prefer) and open it with PrivaNota to restore all your notes and summaries. Both creating and restoring backups require a Pro subscription.

No. Cloud sync would compromise our core privacy promise. We will never add automatic cloud syncing. If you want to sync between devices, you can manually export and import encrypted .privanota backup files using your own preferred storage method, keeping you in complete control of your data.
